The homeowner occasionally forgot to fully close the refrigerator door. During our inspection, we also found that the heavy Sub-Zero door panels and worn hinges had sagged over time, making the door more difficult to close securely.
A Smarter Alternative
Replacing the hinges would have been a costly repair. Instead of recommending an expensive mechanical repair right away, our technician proposed a practical alternative.
We installed a smart hub and temperature sensor that continuously monitors the refrigerator’s temperature. If the temperature rises above the normal range because the door is left open, the system immediately sends an alert to the homeowner.
This solution helps prevent food spoilage while allowing the customer to postpone a major hinge replacement until it becomes necessary. It’s a great example of choosing the most practical solution instead of simply replacing expensive parts.
