Why Your Refrigerator Is Not Cooling?

We’ve all been there — you open the fridge and things feel… not quite cold. Before you panic (or toss out that milk), here’s a breakdown of what might be happening and how to fix it – or when it’s time to call a pro.

1. Is the fridge AND freezer warm?
That’s a red flag. When both sections are warm, it could be a failed compressor, bad start relay, or sealed system issue. These typically require professional repair.

2. Only one section is warm?
Often, the culprit is poor airflow.
If the fan that moves cold air from freezer to fridge goes bad — the food section won’t cool.
Tip: Open the door and listen. If it’s silent — you’ve got fan trouble.

3. Blocked air vents
If your fridge is overstuffed, cold air can’t circulate properly. Make sure there’s space around the vents, especially near the back wall.

4. Loose or damaged door gasket
Warm kitchen air sneaking in through a bad seal can mess with the temperature. Check if your doors close tightly and if the gasket is clean and intact.

5. Condenser coils are dirty
Your fridge can’t breathe if the coils are caked in dust. It works harder, overheats — and cools less.
Clean those coils at least once a year.

6. Temperature dial accidentally changed
Yes, it happens. Maybe someone bumped the dial during cleaning or while rearranging food. Double-check your settings.

7. Odd noises or silence?
Clicking, ticking, or humming? Or… no sound at all? Your fridge is trying to tell you something. Please don’t ignore it!

If you’ve checked all this and your fridge still isn’t keeping up, it’s time to call the pros.
